A LITTLE FALL FROM GRACE!
Christmas luncheon with Her Grace! This is the Grand Dining Room at Chatsworth, home of the Cavendish family and the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire A beautifully arranged table, chairs lined up for dozens of guests, trees laden with baubles, it is a feast for the eyes with dashing red walls, golden ceiling and huge crescents of lights and candles - what more could you want?? just a jolly good ironing of the tablecloth and a tweak to get it straight, sorry, I wish I hadn't noticed it!

I so agree with you.
ReplyDeletePart of the joy of having good linen for me is seeing it after its well ironed.
Sleeping under a freshly laundered sheet is wonderful.
Happy 2012 to you.
Diane.
It is quite dreadful and not what one would expect from such an establishment!!! Happy New Year Buff x
ReplyDeleteWhen my telegraph was delivered it was the first thing I noticed too. I did wonder if creased linen was in fashion!
ReplyDeleteAnd I bet Her Grace noticed it too when the magazine came out-heads will roll. On the servant side of things, just HOW would you iron something this size? In place? Or with a mangle I suppose. I noticed it right off and just knew what your post was going to refer to. Thanks for the giggle.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a good starching not just an iron. Send it round to me - I'm an expert - just finished a huge pile for a banquet.
